Application development using webtechnology
A framework to keep an eye on: http://www.phonegap.com
PhoneGap allows you to use HTML, Javascript and CSS to create mobile applications using native functionality such as:
- access the camera
- access the contact list
- get geolocation information
- read acceleration data
- creating beeps and vibrations
The great thing is that no complicated Java or Objective C development is needed to make powerfull applications... It works for most major mobile devices: iPhone, Android, Palm Pré, Symbian, Blackberry and in the future Windows mobile.
PhoneGap works nicely together with following frameworks
- XUI: A jQuery like lightweight js library - http://xuijs.com/
- jQtouch: A library to create an iPhone look and feel - http://www.jqtouch.com/
More information on PhoneGap can be found here:
Just give it a try for your favorite devices... It can take some time to get started, but documentation is getting better!
